If you find yourself wandering the streets of Ipoh, particularly along Jalan King, make sure to set aside some time to indulge in the culinary delights of Tuck Kee Restaurant Sdn Bhd (德记酒家). This well-established Cantonese restaurant has built a reputation for its exceptional offerings, attracting diners from all across Malaysia.
As soon as you enter Tuck Kee, you're enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a newly renovated space that enhances your dining experience. The constant buzz of satisfied customers speaks volumes about the restaurant's popularity. It's not just a meal; it's a vibrant dining experience steeped in culinary tradition.
One of the standout offerings on the menu is their array of chicken dishes, with the Stir-Fried Chicken with Green Scallion (干爆米酒菜园鸡) and Braised Chicken with Yellow Wine (姜片绍酒鸡) earning rave reviews. Jacob Tan, a satisfied customer, praises the smooth texture and delectable flavor infused with generous amounts of ginger and scallion. The complex layers of flavors in the meats reflect the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity.
The seafood offerings shouldn’t go unnoticed either. Their Sea Cucumber Claypot (海味煲) is a luxurious treat for any seafood lover, while the fried hor fun garnered accolades for its remarkable "wok hei"—a profound smokiness that signifies skillful cooking. This commitment to authentic preparation enhances the dishes, ensuring they're vibrant and filled with fresh ingredients.
Yet, not everything shines brightly; as Rudy Lee points out, while many dishes excel, some of the mixed roast platters fell short of expectations. However, the presence of the noted roasted duck still acts as a beacon for many diners, solidifying its status as a signature dish. Kenny Tan highlights that the duck here is a must-try, indicating the restaurant's ability to keep customers coming back for more.
Samantha D. sums up the dining experience well by noting that Tuck Kee has stayed consistent over the years. Their prices are reasonable, and the service is attentive, contributing to an overall satisfying experience. Even on busy weekdays, Tuck Kee shines brightly among the multitude of dining options in Ipoh.
In conclusion, Tuck Kee Restaurant Sdn Bhd 德记酒家 is not just another spot; it's a culinary gem in Ipoh. Whether you're drawn in by the allure of flavorful chicken or the enticing seafood dishes, Tuck Kee promises to deliver an enjoyable dining experience that leaves a lasting impression. This Tuck Kee restaurant serves a good variety of food. We ordered a mixture of meat and seafood dishes. The scallion and ginger chicken were very nice. The skin were really smooth and had good taste and texture. Very generous with the ginger and scallion. The seafood soup was nice but a little too salty. The roasted duck and char siew were good. Fish was fresh and properly steamed. The restaurant is very crowded so prior booking is recommended.

We ordered three dishes . The first was a Lady finger's salad, reminiscent of “yee sang,” though the sauce had a slightly different twist. I found it refreshing and innovative; we genuinely enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the mixed roast platter—comprising duck, roasted pork, and char siew, didn’t quite meet our expectations. While the roasted pork was decent, both the duck and the char siew were underwhelming, bordering on mediocre. Thankfully, the fried hor fun turned things around. It was outstanding, silky smooth with excellent "wok hei" that elevated the dish. We absolutely loved it. The restaurant’s ambience was another plus. Newly renovated, the space felt fresh and inviting, making for a pleasant dining experience overall.

Came for early dinner after a late lunch. But biting into the roast duck and pork gave me my appetite back. Onion omelette is also very well done. Highly recommended. This place seems more well known for duck than the carbs.

Always a busy restaurant even during weekdays. Dishes are tasty but a bit salty to my taste. Veteran waitresses are friendly and eager to introduce their signature dishes. Overall, one of the better restaurant in Ipoh.

Shop has been around many years and people will still come for the duck. Food is consistent though not the best but some taste good enough. The curry is normal. Staff service is good though. Price reasonable.

Yummy!! That’s all you need to know about this place. It was a treat by a family friend on a special occasion. They ordered all the dishes. Liked ALL the dishes. Sweet and sour pork got the approval from my son who absolutely enjoyed it. Steamed chicken was good. The other dishes looked like simple dishes but the taste and aroma was definitely beyond my expectation. Service was good. Staff friendly. Atmosphere wise can be a bit crowded… but then again good food attracts crowd. Verdict: definitely to come again. Enjoy!
